Kristen Stewart is in talks to join Chloe Sevigny in an upcoming movie about infamous ax murderer Lizzie Borden, who was tried and acquitted of killing her father and stepmother in 1892, despite the overwhelming evidence suggesting she was guilty.

Sevigny will star as Borden in the currently untitled film, while Gossip Cop hears Stewart is is negotiations to play her live-in maid, Bridget Sullivan, who may have been a witness to the notorious murders. The case has never been solved, but many theories have cropped over the years. Among the speculation is that Borden and Sullivan were lovers who committed the crimes together. It’s unknown whether or not the film will explore that theme.

Borden’s tale was most recently adapted for the 2014 TV movie Lizzie Borden Took an Ax, which starred Christina Ricci in the title role. Interestingly, Sevigny was previously attached to a proposed Lizzie Borden series for HBO. The upcoming Borden movie is still in the early stages of production, so the filming schedule and release date have yet to be announced.

In the meantime, Stewart has quite a few projects lined up, with six films slated to be released between now and 2017. Tell Gossip Cop what you think about Stewart possibly co-starring in a movie about Lizzie Borden.
