Khloe Kardashian is being sued over the fireworks display for James Harden’s birthday.

As Gossip Cop reported, Kardashian threw her then-boyfriend Harden a birthday party on a yacht off Marina Del Rey in August, with fireworks set off when the clock struck midnight. The booms understandably angered nearby residents, including fellow stars like Josh Gad and Rebecca Black. It also sparked an investigation into whether Kardashian had properly secured permits for such a display.

The reality star was ultimately vindicated, as it was proven she had obtained permission from law enforcement and key parties. It was said, however, that some residents still wanted to sue Kardashian in small claims court for emotional distress. Now one is moving forward with such a lawsuit.

Marina Del Rey resident James Ferguson is claiming Kardashian’s fireworks caused a “disturbance that harmed our family and pet.” The filing, however, does not specifically mention how they were “harmed.” He’s seeking $7,500 in damages, according to TMZ, which is the maximum allowed.

No lawyers are permitted in small claims court, which means Kardashian would have to face Ferguson herself if the matter is not settled privately. Alternatively, Ferguson could win a default judgment if Kardashian is a no-show. The news of the suit comes one day after Kardashian called off her divorce from Lamar Odom, apparently ending her relationship with Harden. Gossip Cop will continue to have updates.
