Josh Hutcherson is the latest celebrity to throw his support behind Jennifer Lawrence, who recently penned an essay in which she called out the gender pay gap between male and female actors in Hollywood.
As Gossip Cop reported, Lawrence wrote an article last week, titled “Why Do I Make Less Than Male Co‑Stars?”, questioning the wage inequality among actors and actresses. Lawrence’s friend and Hunger Games co-star told MTV, “I thought it was incredible… To even have to say the words ‘women’s pay’ sounds so backwards and [expletive]ed up and not modern in any way, shape or form.”
The actor went to say that the fact women are still being paid less than their male counterparts in 2015 “is [expletive]ing embarrassing and shocking.” He added, “It’s cool that she spoke out like that, and hopefully she does it more… it’s just so [expletive]ing shocking that a guy and girl coming out of college with the exact same degree, women will get paid significantly less. How is that even a real thing? It’s mind-blowing.”
As Gossip Cop also noted, many other celebrities have applauded Lawrence for using her star power to address this important issue. Bradley Cooper, Emma Watson, Jessica Chastain and Elizabeth Banks, are just a few of the big names who’ve publicly voiced support for the actress.
