Hulu has no commitment issues with Casual. The streamer has given a quick order for a second season of the original series.

The half-hour dramedy, from director Jason Reitman and creator Zander Lehmann, debuted three weeks ago to critical praise. It's the second Lionsgate Television-produced series in place at Hulu, joining one of the platform's pioneering originals — Deadbeat.

“Casual really struck a chord,” said Huly SVP and head of content Craig Erwich. “We couldn’t be prouder of the quality, and we’re thrilled to see it be recognized for the success that it is.”

Joining Reitman and Lehmann as executive producers on the series are Helen Estabrook and showrunner Liz Tigelaar

"The Casual family came together quickly and bonded in a very real way both on screen and off," added Reitman, the Oscar-nominated director behind Up in the Air and Juno. "We're all thrilled to see more of each other and continue building upon the adventures of Alex and Valerie as they attempt real adult relationships."

Casual is one piece of Hulu's expanding originals plan. On top of substantial acquired content, both on the TV and film side, the network has event series 11/22/63, Jason Katims' The Path, The Mindy Project and Difficult People — among many others.
