Donald Trump is thanking Cher for calling him a “giant among GOP frontrunners.” See the tweets below.
Cher tweeted midday on Friday, “Never thought I’d Say… Donald Trump is a Giant Among Gop front runners!!” She went on to write, “cruz=devil rubio=RAGE AGAINST WOMEN carson=JUST TELL ME WHY!?” It took several hours, but Trump eventually caught wind of the message.
The presidential candidate tweeted in reply on Friday night, “So nice of @Cher— greatly appreciated!” It’s not clear, however, how complimentary Cher intended her comment to be. As interpreted by Trump, Cher’s tweet could be read as meaning the mogul is far and above a better contender than his rivals, and the best man suited for the nomination.
But Cher also has a long history of disliking Trump, and the two even engaged in a Twitter feud in 2012, as Gossip Cop reported at the time. In fact, she’s spent much of the last several months using Twitter to bash him, and express concern over him potentially becoming President of the United States. In September, for instance, Cher commended the other GOP candidates for “dragging” Trump’s “ass” during the second Republican debate, as Gossip Cop quoted in our reaction roundup.
That means it’s possible Cher is not really endorsing the former “Celebrity Apprentice” host now, but has simply come to see him as the lesser of evils. It’s certainly plausible her stance on Trump has softened. If that’s indeed the case, she’s not the only one. As Gossip Cop recently reported, Joy Behar said on “The View” on Wednesday that while she still has no intentions of voting for him, she is “starting to warm up to Trump a little bit now,” because he’s “not as bad as the rest of them.”
All that said, Cher’s vote seems to be going to Hillary Clinton regardless. After her Trump tweet, she replied to a fan, “Voting 4 Hillary.She’s Smart,Strong,& Uniquely Qualified 4 POTUS.” The music icon went on, “ITS WAY PAST TIME 4 A WOMAN!! THEY BROK IT!!
