A Florida woman named Kelly Black was struck and killed by a semi-truck while walking her dog Paco in Jacksonville on Friday. The dog was unharmed, but he mourned his owner’s tragic death by laying down for hours on the exact spot in the road where she was hit. See video below.

Black’s neighbors discovered the 42-year-old woman and her dog laying in the road around 6:15 a.m., at which time they called the authorities. EMTs arrived and Black was pronounced dead at the scene, but the dog was uninjured. After taking away her body, Paco remained in the spot where his owner was killed until Black’s family came to pick him up several hours after the accident. Black had another dog named Sambo, who was not present at the time.

The driver of the semi-truck was exiting a gas station when he struck Black and dragged her more than 30 feet. Police are still investigating the accident, and the vehicle’s operator has yet to be identified. However, deputies are currently studying surveillance video from the gas station in an attempt to identify the motorist. Additionally, officials believe it’s possible the driver wasn’t aware he hit someone.
