Zayn Malik quit One Direction seven months ago on March 25, and fans are remembering that day by offering their thoughts on Twitter and trending #7MonthsWithoutZayn.

As Gossip Cop reported at the time, Malik apologized if he “let anyone down,” but added that his decision felt “right in my heart.” He further explained he was leaving the band so he could “be a normal 22-year-old” with “private time out of the spotlight.”

In the intervening seven months since Malik’s shocking announcement, Gossip Cop has busted several rumors that wrongly claimed he was rejoining One Direction. He also called off his engagement to Perrie Edwards and signed a record deal for a solo album with Interscope.

And while One Direction has continued on, though the band will take a hiatus next year, many of Malik’s fans still are having a hard time moving past his decision to quit the group. That has become evident by the thousands of tweets commemorating his departure, accompanied by the hashtag #7MonthsWithoutZayn.

A fan with the Twitter handle ZaynMalik_1DFAN wrote, “I miss Zayn’s high notes.” “I’m sad,” simply noted @flopkidniall. Along with the trending hashtag, ‏@aesthetehes94 tweeted, “in loving memory of zayn, he aint dead. we just love remembering him before he left the band.”

A user named ‏@nbhdstyles expressed, “I never got to see zayn perform with the boys and that’s something I’ll always forever be sad about but oh well.” “7 months later and those words still hurt me. #7MonthsWithoutZayn,” noted @Liliana__Simoes. Twitterer @mullinghouls felt, “#7MonthsWithoutZayn no matter how much time passes I don’t think I’ll ever get used to the boys as a foursome. I miss zayn every day.” And @93niallsderby tweeted, “There is no One Direction without Zayn.”

“I miss his voice so damn much i’m just so sad,” admitted @mysaviourmalik, adding, “if you say you don’t miss this, you’re lying #7MonthsWithoutZayn.” Similarly, @We1DUpdate tweeted, “my heart hurts #7MonthsWithoutZayn.”

Next month, One Direction releases its first album without Malik titled Made In The A.M. Tell Gossip Cop how you feel seven months after Malik left the group.
