Worsties, rejoice!

Season two of FXX's critical darling comedy You're the Worst returns Sept. 9 and The Hollywood Reporter has you covered.

Created by Stephen Falk (Orange Is the New Black), the comedy — which centers on two horrible people, Jimmy (Chris Geere) and Gretchen (Aya Cash), and their misadventures in life, love and romance — quickly became a critical darling during its 10-episode run on FX. The anti-romantic comedy will move to younger-skewing cable network FXX for its sophomore season, which will focus on a "big issue" and feature the return of fan-favorite episode "Sunday Funday," with a whole new twist. 

To celebrate the show's return, THR raided Edgar's (Desmin Borges) kitchen to get the recipes for the show's beloved Breakfast Nachos, Breakfast Pizza and Breakfast Lasagna. Not to be outdone, we also got our hands on Vernon's (Todd Robert Anderson) secret stash and the recipe for Trash Juice in a bid to prepare for the show's return in style.

Special shout-out to Falk and his fellow the You're the Worst writers as well as prop master Rick Ladomade, who with his team, came up with the delectable delights.

BREAKFAST NACHOS

Ingredients
1 bag tortilla chips
3 cups of Mexican blend cheese
pine nuts
½ small can olives
4 eggs/scrambled
1 can chili with beef and beans
1 fresh salsa
small tub of sour cream
½ bunch of fresh cilantro
4 tomatoes
black pepper/salt

Directions
Large bag of tortilla chips to layer on a large plate or platter with ingredients
Scramble four eggs in a frying pan
Cook one can chili and beans in pot until it simmers
Chop tomatoes and cilantro into small pieces
Stack three to four layers of tortilla chips, cheese and chili with beans
Once layers are stacked, add lots of tomatoes/cilantro/salsa over the top
Sprinkle pine nuts/olives over top
Add a pinch of salt and pepper
Add sour cream to your desire


TRASH JUICE
Ingredients
choice of trashcan with liner/bucket/large popcorn tin

water

tropical punch powdered (large can)
chopped lemons/limes/oranges/grapefruit/green and red apples/plums/peaches

ice

Vodka


Directions
Large clean trashcan with plastic trash liner/bucket/popcorn tin
Fill with water ¾ full. Add powdered Hawaiian punch then taste to your sweetness level
Add Vodka (your call on the amount)
Add chopped fruit
Depending on size, fill ½ of remaining space to top with chopped fruit
Add ice to top
Stir with large wooden spoon or frat paddle

BREAKFAST LASAGNA
Ingredients
1 pound lasagna noodles
6 eggs scrambled
1 cup cheddar cheese (you can dial up the cheesy)
1 cup mozzarella
2 sausage crumbled or cut
Canadian bacon
green/red chopped tomatoes
ricotta cheese
black pepper/salt

Directions

Cook lasagna noodles in boiling water until tender
Scramble six eggs into pan/mix in sausage/pinch of salt and pepper
Grill Canadian bacon in pan
Lay out noodles in casserole-type dish
Layer noodles/eggs with sausage/Canadian bacon/ricotta/cheddar/mozzarella
Make three layers in casserole dish or until you reach the top
Bake in oven for 15-20 minutes until cheese is melted

 

BREAKFAST PIZZA
Ingredients
Pizza dough
3 Eggs/sunny side up
Cheese
Sausage
olive oil
cilantro
pepper/salt

Directions
8-inch pizza crusts misshaped (or Boboli)
Cook eggs in pan sunnyside up (try not to break)
Brush on olive oil on crust/add sausage/lay three eggs on top/cheese
Make sure grill/oven is hot (450 degrees, preheated)
Bake/grill eight to 10 minutes until cooked and cheese is melted
Sprinkle with a little cilantro/salt and pepper
