Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch is no match for Liam Dutton. Some weathermen might shy away from the 58-letter Welsh village name, but Dutton took it on with gusto — and nailed it.
Video of the UK meteorologist effortlessly pronouncing the seemingly unpronounceable town went viral this week after Channel 4 News' Sept. 8 forecast. In the clip, the word practically rolls off Dutton's tongue as he notes the warm weather in Wales.
"Now today we had a big contrast in temperature across the UK — just 12 degrees in the coastal parts of Eastern England, with cloudy skies. But in the sunshine, in Northwest Wales...just up the road from Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch, the temperature got to 21 Celsius," he said, never missing a beat.
The video, which Dutton shared on his Facebook page, has gotten more than 5 million views on the social media site, plus 2 million on YouTube, in just two days. "It had to be done!" he captioned the clip.
Later, on Sept. 10, he shared a screenshot of the video on Catherine Zeta-Jones' page. The Welsh actress, 45, had posted the clip from the UK's Telegraph a few hours earlier, and commended Dutton on his pronunciation.
