No surprise here: Starz is staying the course with Survivor's Remorse.
The critically-favored comedy, which recently kicked off its sophomore run on the pay cable network, has earned a quick season three renewal. After returning to new ratings highs, the most recent episode grew again to 1.34 million live-plus-same day viewers.
From exec producers Tom Werner, Maverick Carter, LeBron James, Mike O’Malley, Paul Wachter and Vic Levin, the half-hour stars Jessie T. Usher as a basketball star negotiating his family's needs with his meteoric rise.
"We are thrilled to renew Survivor’s Remorse for a third season," said Starz managing director Carmi Zlotnik. "Since it began, the critics instantly embraced the show, and now we’ve seen its fans grow season over season. This all-star creative team, led expertly by Mike O’Malley, boldly tackles the most topical of issues with heart and humor as the Calloway family deals with 'pro-money and pro-problems' off the basketball court. We are very happy and proud to have them return to Starz for another season."
Starz paired the second season with freshman Patrick Stewart vehicle Blunt Talk. That series earned an out-of-the-gate 20-episode order for two seasons.
Survivor's Remorse is half of another strong duo. Drama Power, the network's most-watched series, is another part of Starz successful push into African American homes with more diverse casting.
