Showtime's Penny Dreadful is bringing back Patti LuPone — with a twist — and will add Dr. Jekyll to its mix for season three.

The horror drama has promoted the Tony-winning actress to series regular, the premium cable network announced Tuesday.

LuPone (American Horror Story) guest starred during season two as the Cut-Wife, however, in season three, she'll return as a regular performer as the role of Dr. Seward, an American therapist who treats Vanessa (Eva Green) with an unconventional new approach.

Additionally, Robert Louis Stevenson's Dr. Henry Jekyll will join the roster of literary characters to join the drama from John Logan. Shazad Latif (The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel) will take on the iconic role as one of the five new guest stars poised to join the nine-episode season.

Set to debut in 2016, Penny Dreadful will also add guest stars Christian Camargo (Dexter) as Dr. Alexander Sweet, a zoologist who strikes up an unlikely friendship with Vanessa; Sam Barnett (Jupiter Ascending) as Seward’s mysterious young secretary; Wes Studi (Hell on Wheels) as Kaetenay, an intense, enigmatic Native American with a deep connection to Ethan (Josh Hartnett) who also becomes an ally to Sir Malcolm (Timothy Dalton); and Jessica Barden (The Outcast) as Justine, a young acolyte to Lily (Billie Piper) and Dorian Gray (Reeve Carney).

"Season three is a real change of pace for us, which is good," Logan told The Hollywood Reporter following the season two finale. "We can get out of the alleys and cobblestone bars of Victorian London and see a bit more of the world. Essentially there's a pull bringing these characters together and it's supernatural, partly romantic, partly shared destiny."

A return date for Penny Dreadful has not yet been determined.
