CBS is looking to the life of Gloria Allred for its next legal drama.
The network has handed out a script commitment to an untitled drama inspired by the life of the famed feminist attorney, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
From writer Deborah Schoeneman (Girls, The Newsroom), the untitled entry is a fictional drama about a fearless, outspoken lawyer who takes on the toughest civil rights cases and is masterful at using the media in order to get justice.
Schoeneman will pen the script and executive produce the CBS Television Studios drama alongside Allred as well as Peter Principato and Paul Young.

In her three-decade-plus career, Allred has represented clients including Nicole Brown Simpson's family during the O.J. Simpson murder trial; a young boy who accused Michael Jackson of sexual abuse; as well as the family of transgender teen Gwen Araujo, among many others. She has fought in civil rights suits involving women's rights, wrongful termination, sexual harassment and more, often taking on clients in suits against celebrities like Tommy Lee, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Anthony Weiner and more. She's currently representing at least 20 women who have accused Bill Cosby of sexual assault, sexual harassment and/or other sexual misconduct.
For Allred, the potential CBS series marks her latest TV foray. In 2011, she debuted a syndicated courtroom show We the People With Gloria Allred that ran for 260 episodes.
For CBS, the potential Allred series comes as procedurals continue to be in high demand as broadcast networks look for new spins on the tried and true formulas in an increasingly competitive landscape.
