"I feel like that hair probably smells like pot and patchouli," Margaret Cho said of Miley Cyrus' dreadlocks. "If anybody’s hair smells like it."

Fashion Police returned to E! on Monday night, following a lengthy hiatus triggered by Giuliana Rancic's controversial comments and the very public exits of Kathy Griffin and Kelly Osbourne.

Thanks to the MTV Video Music Awards' annually outrageous fashions, the series selected the occasion to return with a refreshed panel featuring new co-host Melissa Rivers, Rancic and Brad Goreski. The episode's rotating celebrity guests were comedian Margaret Cho and Real Housewives personality NeNe Leakes.

Rivers kicked off the special by addressing the recent bumps head-on. "Yeah, it’s been a little bit of a crazy year around here -- and, well, I’m still cleaning up messes," she said with a lint roller in hand, which visibly drew purple and red hair in reference to the two departed co-hosts. "But the good news is, Fashion Police is back!"

Cho also didn't shy away from poking fun at Rancic's snafu, as the Fashion Police mainstay infamously said of Zendaya Coleman's dreadlocks at the Oscars, "She smells like patchouli oil and weed." (Rancic apologized for the comment.)

The comedian said of host Miley Cyrus' blonde dreadlocks, "I feel like that hair probably smells like pot and patchouli. ... If anybody’s hair smells like it." Laughter was abound afterward, as Rancic covered her face with a pillow.
