‘Empire’ Casts Vivica A. Fox to Play Cookie’s Sister

A big piece of Cookie's past is resurfacing on the upcoming season of Empire.

Vivica A. Fox has been cast to play her older sister on the Fox hip-hop drama, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

It is unknown what brings Fox's character back into Cookie's orbit, but the Independence Day actress is set to make her debut in the eighth episode of the season. Fox joins Tasha Smith, who was introduced last season as Cookie's sister, Carol.

Fox is the latest in an impressive lineup of guest stars — including Chris Rock, Alicia Keys, Lenny Kravitz, Marisa Tomei, Pitbull, Kelly Rowland, Ludacris, Adam Rodriguez and Al Sharpton, among many others — for the highly anticipated second season of Empire

Fox most recently appeared on the latest season of Celebrity Apprentice. Her other credits include Sharknado 2: The Second OneCurb Your Enthusiasm and Kill Bill.

The new season of Empire premieres Sept. 23 at 9 p.m. on Fox.
