Bill Cosby received an unexpected and impassioned defense from Damon Wayans on Friday. Check out the video below.
Wayans’ joined the Power 105 “Breakfast Club” for a wide-ranging interview, and at one point he was asked what “advice” he would give the embattled comedy legend. Wayans responded by doubting Cosby’s accusers, questioning their motives, and even mocking some of the women’s looks. “If I was him, I would divorce my wife, wink wink, give her all my money, and then I would go to a deposition, I’d light one of them three-hour cigars, I’d have me some wine, and maybe a Quaalude, and I would just go off, because I don’t believe he was raping,” Wayans said.
He continued, “I think he was in relationships with all of them, and then he’s like, ‘You know what, it’s 78, I can’t get it up for any of y’all, bye bitches.’ And now they’re like, ‘Oh, really? Rape.’ Forty years — listen, how big is his penis that it gives you amnesia for 40 years?”
When co-host Angela Yee pointed out that some women previously came forward years ago, Wayans wasn’t swayed. “But if you listen to them talk, they go, ‘Well, the first time.’ The first time?!” said the comedy star. “Bitch, how many times did it happen? Just listen to what they’re saying.”
Wayans then said, “And some of them, really, is un-rape-able. I look at them and go, ‘No, he don’t want that. Get outta here!'” He later added, “Look, I understand fame. I’ve lived it. Women will throw themselves at you. They just want to be in your presence. There’s some that innocently will come up there, but not 40-something women. They’re not that naïve.”
“You’re talkin’ about, what, in 1965 he just walked into someone’s dressing room and put his penis in their mouth?” Wayans asked incredulously. He went on to suggest that people are “attacking” Cosby because they saw an “opening” after he “lost” support for criticizing “young black men.” “But the dude from ‘7th Heaven,’ his show’s still on TV,” Wayans said, referring to Stephen Collins. “Woody Allen, he’s making shows and movies.”
The comedian-actor then said, “If it was my daughter, I would’ve killed Bill Cosby. But being just sitting back looking at it, I just don’t believe this. I think it’s a money-hustle.” He later admitted, though, that some of the claims could be true, and said, “And for them, my heart goes out to them. For anybody who was raped by Bill Cosby, I’m sorry, and I hope you get justice.” Wayans, however, then added, “You other bitches, look,” and went on to again question some of the allegations.
Wayans, discussing the claims that Cosby drugged the women, even wondered, “What’s the joy of banging someone that’s asleep?” He also insisted that the comedy icon is “innocent until proven guilty,” and said he believed Cosby should “tell the truth… because this is not how your legacy should end.” Watch the video below starting at the 26:10-mark, and tell us what you think of Wayans’ comments.
