WDBJ Shooting: Alison Parker’s Boyfriend Talks Their Final Moments Together

The boyfriend of slain WDBJ reporter Alison Parker has spoken out about their last moments together.

Chris Hurst, who anchors the 6 PM and 11 PM newscasts for the Roanoke, Va., CBS affiliate, told local reporters in a press huddle outside the station on Wednesday that he and Parker's day had gotten off to a normal start.

"This morning she had to get up a little extra early to go to Smith Mountain Lake," Hurst said, referring to what tragically ended up being Parker's final assignment. "I made her breakfast, I made her lunch, I sent her on her way."

The couple had fashioned a routine out of their opposite schedules, Hurst explained, in which Parker would leave for her early morning shift just as he was getting ready for bed.

"I had a habit of always wanting her to text me when she got to work safely. She did so, and the last thing she said to me was, 'Good night, sweet boy,'" Hurst said.

The newsman, 28, went on to show a scrapbook Parker had put together as a gift, containing photos and memorabilia from throughout their nine-month relationship.

"She is inside and out the most beautiful woman I ever met and I was lucky enough to call her my girlfriend," Hurst said of Parker, with whom he had just moved in, adding, "Someone I never thought would love me for me, and she did."

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Parker, 24, and her photographer, Adam Ward, 27, were fatally shot on Wednesday morning while conducting a live interview.

The alleged shooter was former WDBJ employee Vester Flanagan, who went by the on-air name Bryce Williams. Flanagan died from injuries sustained in a self-inflicted gunshot wound hours after the incident.

"For her to be taken in this fashion, in this way, is unconscionable. And for Adam, too," Hurst said. "They were out there every day together as a team, and they were murdered together. It is still very difficult for me to rationalize what has occurred."

Hurst took to social media to express his sorrow when news of Parker and Ward's deaths broke, telling followers he and Parker had planned to get married.
