Taylor Swift is celebrating one year since the release of “Shake It Off,” the lead single from her record-breaking album, 1989.

As Gossip Cop reported at the time, the audio and video for “Shake It Off” simultaneously premiered on August 18, 2014. The song marked Swift’s first official pop single, and then she announced 1989, to be released that fall, would be her first official pop album. “Shake It Off” debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100, and later earned three Grammy nominations.

Fans went wild over the song’s release, but that was just a hint of what was still to come. When 1989 came out in October, it debuted atop the Billboard 200 and sold a whopping 1.287 million copies in its first week of release. The album went on to break a number of records, and became the best-selling release of 2014, even though it came out so late in the year.

Swift is now on her “1989 World Tour,” which had her performing in Glendale, Arizona on Monday. She’ll take the stage again there on Tuesday night, and in the hours before show time, Swift told fans on Twitter just how much the day means to her. “One year ago today, ‘Shake It Off’ was released and I told you my album would be called 1989. Just…. Thank you. For everything,” wrote the singer.

In less than 30 minutes, the message was retweeted more than 13,00 times and favorited 26,000. TELL US: What do you think of Swift celebrating the one-year anniversary of “Shake It Off”?
