Stars took to Twitter on Thursday to post their reactions to Jared Fogle being charged with possessing child pornography and having sex with minors. Some of the celebrities took the opportunity to make jokes about the former Subway spokesman, while others expressed their outrage. See the celebrity reactions below.
As Gossip Cop previously reported, Fogle has been charged with the distribution and possession of child pornography, as well as engaging in sexual acts with underage girls and boys. In light of the shocking news, many stars couldn’t help but weigh in on the situation.
Bob Saget got edgy and joked, “I heard once that guy Jared lost 80 pounds really quick. A 12-year-old got out of his car.” Rapper Charlamagne Tha God had a similar thought, tweeting, “All these years Jared Fogle was trying to get into a smaller pants size who knew he meant kids jeans?”
George Wallace took the opportunity to poke fun at Fogle’s impending imprisonment, tweeting, “Hey Jared, I hope tossin’ salads counts as eatin’ fresh. Bon voyage.” Larry the Cable Guy also joked about Fogle’s jail sentence, writing, “If Jared thought he lost a lot of weight eating at Subway, wait’ll he tries prison food.”
Jerry O’Connell recommended, “If you go to Subway today keep asking your Sandwich Artist ‘What’s up with your boy?'” Jordan Peele imparted some advice of his own, tweeting that Subway “should probably change your motto from ‘eat fresh’ to anything else.” Meanwhile, Jason Biggs took the opportunity to apply for the now vacated spokesman position. The actor wrote, “@SUBWAY my 1st job in high school was at one of your shops. Happy to consider working for you again as ur new Spokesperson. #SandwichArtist.”
Chad Lowe didn’t see any humor in the situation, however, angrily writing, “There should be no plea deals with the kind of sick crimes #JaredFogle committed. Lock him up, throw away the key.” Margaret Cho took a bit of a lighter approach, but still conveyed her disgust, tweeting, “I’m so grossed out by this #JaredFogle scandal – this has ruined the meatball sub forever for me.”
