Stephanie Sigman will play an administrator whose loyalties and values are tested.
American Crime is getting a taste of 007 for season two.
Stephanie Sigman, who plays a Bond girl in the highly anticipated Spectre, is set to recur on the ABC anthology series, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
She will portray Monica Ava, an administrator at an Indianapolis public school whose loyalties and values conflict when she's faced with systemic bias within the school system.
The second season of American Crime, which is up for 10 Emmys, centers on a high school boy who accuses several players on his private school's championship basketball team of sexually assaulting him.
Sigman joins fellow newcomers Hope Davis and Andre Benjamin, as well as returning cast members Felicity Huffman, Timothy Hutton, Regina King, Elvis Nolasco, Richard Cabral and Lili Taylor, who will all take on new roles.
"One can’t watch Miss Bala without coming away with a total appreciation of Stephanie’s ability to literally hold the frame," said creator John Ridley in reference to Sigman's 2011 breakout role. "She is so finely accomplished, and we’re amazingly fortunate that she’s decided to come directly from a project as substantial as the new Bond film to work with us on something as observant as American Crime. We continue to build the cast, and that really is testament to the work and commitment of all the actors and artisans with whom we've had the opportunity to work on this program."
Ridley exec produces the series with Michael J. McDonald. The new season of American Crime is expected to premiere midseason on ABC.
Sigman's other credits include The Bridge and the new Netflix drama Narcos. She is repped by ICM and Primary Wave Entertainment.
