The hip-hop community is mourning the loss of a veteran. Rapper Sean Price has reportedly died at the age of 43.
According to a statement released on Saturday, the emcee passed away at his Brooklyn, N.Y. home early Aug. 8. He is survived by his wife and three children.
"It is with beyond a heavy heart that Duck Down Music is sadly confirming that Sean Price passed away," a rep for Price announced in the statement.
"The cause of death is currently unknown, but it was reported that he died in his sleep," the statement continued. "Sean's family and friends are asking for time to grieve and process the news. Further details will be issued when more information is available."
Price was best known for his work with groups Heltah Skeltah, Boot Camp Clik and Random Axe. He had recorded under the stage persona Ruck since the '90s, but made a solo debut under his birth name with the 2005 album "Monkey Barz." Price went on to issue 2007's "Jesus Price Supastar" and 2012's "Mic Tyson."
Rolling Stone reports that Price was most recently preparing for the Aug. 21 release of a new mixtape album, "Songs in the Key of Price."
His colleagues took to social media to express their grief and condolences following the sad news.
"R.I.P. Ruck....Love and Respect to The Duck Down Family!!! #SeanPrice," DJ Premier wrote on Instagram.
