President Obama’s decision to appear on the NBC reality series “Running Wild with Bear Grylls” has angered PETA. On Monday, Obama left for Alaska, where he will observe the impact of climate change and get a lesson in survival techniques in the woods from Grylls. But the animal right group is upset the president is appearing on the show with the controversial British adventurer.

PETA calls Grylls’ show the “bottom of the barrel” and “sexist.” The organization’s president Ingrid Newark tells Gossip Cop, “This internationally condemned program, on which women have been bullied into slitting a baby pig’s throat and eating a mouse soaked in urine, is the last place for the 44th president to be seen.” She adds, “There are far better ways to get the message about global climate change out than by appearing on this disgusting show.”

So far, the White House has not responded to PETA’s comments. Obama is the first sitting president to appear on “Running Wild with Bear Grylls.” He joins other such notables who have been on the survival show, including Ed Helms and Tom Arnold.

Obama’s episode is slated to air later this year on NBC. Tell Gossip Cop what you think about the president appearing “Running Wild with Bear Grylls.”
