Jared Fogle’s wife Katie McLaughlin is filing for divorce in the wake of the former Subway spokesman agreeing to a plea deal in his child pornography case.
As Gossip Cop reported earlier, Fogle was charged Wednesday with engaging in sexual acts with minors, as well as receiving and distributing child pornography. At a hearing, he entered a not guilty plea as a formality, and was released with an electronic monitoring device. As part of his deal, though, Fogle will ultimately plead guilty and be sentenced to at least 5 years in prison and pay $1.4 million in victim restitution.
Fogle and McLaughlin, a teacher, married in 2010 and have two kids together. In a statement Wednesday, McLaughlin said, “Obviously, I am extremely shocked and disappointed by the recent developments involving Jared. I am in the process of seeking a dissolution of the marriage. My focus is exclusively on the well-being of my children. Neither I nor my family will have any further comment on the matter. I appreciate respect for my family’s privacy during this difficult time.”
This will be the second divorce for Fogle, who was previously wed to Elizabeth Christie, a pediatric nurse, from 2001 to 2007. Fogle has not commented on the developments in his court case, or McLaughlin’s intention to divorce him. Gossip Cop will continue to have updates.
