Jared Fogle has been charged with distribution and possession of child pornography, and engaging in elicit sexual conduct with minors.
In court documents filed on Tuesday, it is alleged Fogle traveled from his home stage of Indiana to New York City multiple times between 2007 and as recently as June to have sex with minors. The filing further states that the former Subway spokesman paid for the sexual acts. There are said to be 14 victims, some girls and some boys, with 2 engaging in sexual acts and another 12 involved in pornography.
In one particularly unsettling text message included as evidence, Fogle told a 17-year-old woman whom he asked to find minor girls that he would be fine with a 16-year-old female partner, but also stated “that the younger the girl, the better.” Other supporting documentation includes Fogle asking for pictures of the underage victims, as well as proof that Fogle received child pornography from Russell Taylor, the imprisoned former director of The Jared Foundation.
As part of a plea deal, Fogle will be pleading guilty at a hearing on Wednesday morning. and is expected to get a sentence of at least five years in prison. He’ll also have to pay $1.4 million in restitution, which is broken down as $100,000 to each victim. Officials are expected to hold a press conference later Wednesday.
On Tuesday, after word of Fogle’s plea deal broke, Subway posted on its social media accounts, “We no longer have a relationship with Jared and have no further comment.” The restaurant chain initially suspended ties with Fogle after the FBI raided his home in early July.
