Howie Mandel Apologizes America's Got Talent Video

Howie Mandel is apologizing for making light of bulimia on Tuesday’s “America’s Got Talent.” Check out the videos below.

As Gossip Cop has reported, one of the judges’ favorite contestants this year is Stevie Starr, who is known as a “professional reguritator.” Starr swallows random objects whole, and manages to bring them back up in one piece. This time around, he mind-bogglingly “ate” Heidi Klum’s ring, a lock, and key, but when he brought them back up, the ring was amazingly attached to the lock.

The judges were once again blown away, with Howard Stern calling Starr a “superstar,” and predicting, “You’re for sure looking at Top 5 act, if not a possible winner.” But while the contender’s act may also be controversial, it was Mandel’s comments that raised eyebrows. Admitting that his remark would “probably come out wrong,” the comedian declared, “You, sir, make bulimia entertaining.”

While there was no clear reaction from the live audience, Mandel was apparently slammed on social media, and responded to the backlash by issuing an on-air apology two acts later. “I just wanna take a second just to apologize. I made a comment earlier, it’s live television, I wasn’t thinking,” he began.

Mandel continued, “I made light of bulimia, which is a very serious eating disorder and mental health issue. I deal with mental health all the time, and I did something stupid. I should never make light of it. I apologize to anybody that was offended. I’m not perfect, I make mistakes.”

The judge, who regularly tweets during the live broadcasts, similarly posted on Twitter, “I am NOT perfect. I make mistakes. I sincerely apologize to everyone who was offended.” Watch below to see Mandel’s comment and apology, and tell us what you think.
