Caitlyn Jenner is praising an artist who took hate tweets sent about the transgender star and turned them into a portrait. See the photo below!
Conor Collins, who uses the Twitter name “@conartworks,” describes himself as an “award-winning contemporary artist who used to be an opera singer.” In the wake of Jenner’s coming out, he took note of the unfortunate number of hateful tweets that the reality star was being sent. A number of the messages were actually death threats.
But Collins selected some of the tweets and wrote them out by hand onto a canvas in the shape of Jenner’s Vanity Fair cover. The result was an exact replica that featured both the magazine’s logo, and a practically perfect representation of Jenner’s now-famous pose. Collins shared the finished piece on Twitter Tuesday, tweeting, “My portrait of @Caitlyn_Jenner made using the death threats and hate tweets she received after coming out #art.”
It took just over 24 hours for the artwork to come to Jenner’s attention. She tweeted on Wednesday night, “Turning hate into love is so beautiful and powerful – great job by this artist.” Incredibly, Collins himself is now getting hate messages for the project.
