Ben Higgins is officially “The Bachelor.” Host Chris Harrison announced the news on Monday’s “Bachelor In Paradise: After Paradise.” The 26-year-old software salesman from Denver was a former contestant on Kaitlyn Bristowe’s season of “The Bachelorette.”

Season 20 of the reality dating show is set to begin filming this fall and air early next year. During “After Paradise,” Harrison sat down with Higgins to interview him about the upcoming season. Harrison said the response to him has been tremendous. Higgins says he still goes to work and church on Sunday, and he’s trying to keep this as normal as possible. But then Amy Schumer called into “After Paradaise” and said, “I hope you find love,” before asking him, “Do you want to have phone sex?”

As Gossip Cop reported, Higgins was the second runner-up on “The Bachelorette,” finishing in third place behind Nick Viall and ultimate winner Shawn Booth. He was eliminated from “The Bachelorette,” despite Bristowe saying she was falling in love with him and that he “would make a great husband.” The well-mannered Higgins was also liked by the other men on the show.

It’s become somewhat of a pattern for the third place “Bachelor” or “Bachelorette” contestant to headline the following season. Bristowe was the second runner-up on Chris Soules’ season of “The Bachelor.” Soules took the bronze on Andi Dorfman’s season. And Dorfman was the third place finisher on Juan Pablo Galavis’ season.
