In 2007, Kanye West's mother, Donda West, died of complications from heart disease. Two years prior, this home video of Kanye rapping with her was released as part of the MTV documentary The Making of Late Registration.
The video begins with Donda rapping one of Kanye's earlier songs, as the two try to navigate their way through the old lyrics, coming together for the parts they both remember.
After the two laugh it off, an admiring Donda asks Kanye about the song, to which Kanye replies, "That shows you that if you have a rap that actually means something, it's good. It stands the test of time if you say something."
