The bottom three sang for the instant save.

Even though last night featured some of the best performances of season eight, two artists had to go home tonight on The Voice. And once again, the bottom three got to sing for an instant audience save.

After Jason Derulo took the stage for a performance with India Carney and Kimberly Nichole, the first of the results were announced. Adam Levine’s only remaining artist, Joshua Davis, advanced, despite being one of last night’s weaker performers.

Rozzi Crane performed before the next set of results, which revealed that America saved Team Pharrell’s Sawyer Fredericks, the youngest artist left in the competition. America also voted to save one of last night’s standouts: Meghan Linsey from Blake Shelton’s team. Kimberly Nichole from Christina Aguilera’s team also advanced, along with Koryn Hawthorne from Team Pharrell.

This left Carney, Hannah Kirby and Corey Kent White to sing for the instant save. For her last shot, Kirby sang “Radioactive” by Imagine Dragons, which gave her the chance to show off her powerful and different voice. She made the radio hit her own, and it was a valiant effort in the face of possible elimination.

Next, White, who is the only country artist left in the competition, sang “Somebody Like You” by Keith Urban. It was a solid performance, but one that reaffirmed that White isn’t a very versatile artist and doesn’t seem to have a clear point of view.

Team Christina’s Carney used “Human” by Christina Perri as her save song, and it was an incredible performance that made it very clear that she does not belong in the bottom three. Although voters seem to disagree, Carney has what it takes to win the competition. “Don’t let this girl go,” Aguilera urged voters after her performance.

After the Twitter votes were calculated, Carney secured the instant save. Team Blake was hit hard, as it’s the end of the road for White and Kirby after what Carson Daly called the closest save vote ever. Team Christina remains intact, moving into the top six.
