Taylor Swift is NOT trying to convince Camila Cabello to leave Fifth Harmony, despite a HollywoodLife report claiming Swift has “been whispering to Camila” that she should quit the group and go solo. Gossip Cop can exclusively bust the story.
According to the webloid’s alleged insider, “Time and time again, Taylor has brought to Camila’s attention that she has an amazing solo career ahead of her. It’s gotten to the point where she keeps trying to convince Camila to do a solo album.” HollywoodLife tries to create panic among the group’s fans, declaring, “Harmonizers, you’re on notice!”
Like hundreds of other HollywoodLife stories Gossip Cop has debunked, this story is sensationalized nonsense. There’s no truth to it. And the site knows there’s no truth to it, which is why it tries to cover itself by later explaining that Cabello won’t be taking Swift’s purported advice.
“She respects Taylor‘s thoughts and is always very cordial, but Camila doesn’t want to really think about that as she loves being with the other girls of Fifth Harmony,” says the bogus HollywoodLife insider, who subsequently adds, “It’s like walking on broken glass, she loves being friends with Taylor, so she is definitely making it look to Taylor that she is considering it even though it isn’t going to happen.”
Um, we’re pretty sure the expression this “insider” was looking for was “walking on eggshells.” But that’s not really what’s important. What’s important is that HollywoodLife is again trying to create controversy where none exists, falsely suggesting the Swift is trying to break up Fifth Harmony, or that there’s potential tension between Swift and Cabello, or a looming conflict between Cabello and her group mates. None of it is true. A source close to the situation tells Gossip Cop exclusively that Swift has “never, ever” tried to convince Cabello to leave Fifth Harmony, calling the rumor “totally made up.”
