A shocking development rocked the college basketball world during Saturday Night Live's cold open.

Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski (Taran Killam) held a press conference, revealing that the team's star player would be held out of the championship game against Wisconsin for an unusual reason.

"He has a big biology test on Tuesday," the coach explained, adding that his players' focus needs to remain on their studies. "If they only came to college to play basketball, then we'd all look pretty silly."

"It's like I told all my students: College is the most important year of your life," Krzyzewski continued. 

Analyst Charles Barkley (Kenan Thompson) pointed out that academics were similarly important to him while he was a student at Auburn University. "I just couldn't figure out how much baking soda to put in a volcano, and I majored in volcanoes," he said.
