Ireland Baldwin is in rehab for “emotional trauma.” The daughter of Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger broke the news herself on Twitter on Monday.
After a report from RadarOnline claimed that Baldwin was forced into treatment at Malibu’s SOBA Recovery Center due to nonstop partying, the model set the record straight. “‘Intensive partying’ haha,” tweeted Baldwin. “Apparently I’m in rehab for intensive partying soooo I’m just going to lay pretty low for a bit and maybe get some frozen yogurt.”
The 19-year-old then wrote more seriously, “I checked myself into Soba for two weeks to just get away for a little bit. I’m not much a party cat but I am here [to] deal with some emotional trauma and getting the intensive therapy I needed in order to recover.” It is not clear to what “trauma” Baldwin is referring, but she noted, “Someday I’ll feel ready to share my story openly without feeling the way I do.”
“Right now I just needed a breather,” continued the star. “I needed a chance to work on myself and gather all the tools I need to overcome everything that I had been through and rid myself of all the pain I locked away in unreachable places.” Baldwin’s cousin Hailey, whose dad is Alec Baldwin’s brother Stephen, tweeted a short time later, “My whole family and I love Ireland and support her endlessly and are here for her through this time.”
Earlier this month, Baldwin had an emergency appendectomy, shortly after she spent time with her dad, stepmom Hilaria, and half-sister Carmen. Gossip Cop wishes her well.
