Billy Crystal Performs Musical Tribute to David Letterman

To the tune of "Sunrise, Sunset" from 'Fiddler on the Roof,' Crystal looked back at some of the memorable moments from the outgoing 'Late Show' host's career.

Billy Crystal has been a frequent guest on David Letterman's late-night series, first on NBC and then on CBS.

So it was only fitting that Wednesday night, in one of Letterman's final shows, Crystal performed a musical tribute to the man he called his "best friend on television."

The show aired a brief montage of photos and clips of Crystal's appearances on Letterman's shows before the actor took the stage.

To the tune of "Sunrise, Sunset" from Fiddler on the Roof, Crystal looked back at some of the memorable moments from Letterman's career.

His song featured references to Letterman regulars Rupert Jee, Larry "Bud" Melman and Richard Simmons.

He also mentioned memorable appearances by Cher, Madonna and Drew Barrymore.

Accompanied by a trio of singers wearing Fiddler on the Roof-like garb for the "David, Letterman" chorus, Crystal sang lines like "Carson loved you. Leno shoved you."

In closing, Crystal sang, "Now late night's jammed with all the Jimmys. They're just the princes, you're the king."
