Alice Eve Backs Off Jenner Comments – ARTICLE

Alice Eve is taking heat for comments she reportedly made on Instagram about Bruce Jenner's transition.

According to the BBC, the "Star Trek" actress spoke out about the Olympian's revelations in his interview with Diane Sawyer, saying Bruce wouldn't have "been a hero" had he been born a woman.

"If you were a woman no one would have heard of you because women can't compete in the decathlon," she reportedly wrote in an Instagram post that has since been deleted, referencing Bruce's 1976 Olympics gold medal win. "You would be a frustrated young athlete who wasn't given a chance."

Adding, "Until women are paid the same as men, then playing at being a 'woman' while retaining the benefits of being a man is unfair. Do you have a vagina? Are you paid less than men? Then, my friend, you are a woman."

After users responded unfavorably, the actress clarified her remarks.

"I'm not saying by identifying they are negatively impacting feminism, I am saying that we have to refine the language on this topic so all men, women and transgenders are accurately represented in their process of self-identification. Maybe this needs a little thought," she wrote, in comments that have since been deleted.

Alice then posted a photo of David Bowie, along with a supportive message.
