Vanity Fair's Oscar party
Investigation Discovery wants more from Vanity Fair.
The Discovery Communications-owed cable channel has green-lit a second season of the magazine's debut TV series, Vanity Fair Confidential. The second installment, a co-production from True Entertainment, Conde Nast Entertainment and ID, will once again comb through the publication's archives for TV-worthy investigative pieces to air in 2016.
“Without any doubt, there is simply no publication in print that has more deservedly established itself over the years as the quintessential source of long-form, investigative journalism,” said Henry Schleiff, a Discovery Group president who oversees the network, in a statement announcing the news Monday.

He added: "The pages of Vanity Fair establish a cultural filter to even the most sensational stories, and we are delighted to announce the renewal of the series as an ode to this unique partnership between Conde Nast and ID, which extends the Vanity Fair brand from its illustrious pages to its television home on ID."
The hour-long series, which premiered in January, incorporates in-depth interviews with the writers of the original magazine articles as well as first-person accounts from friends, family and law enforcement involved in the respective cases, including that of Robert Durst. Season one has featured the work of such Vanity Fair writers as Barbarians at the Gate's Bryan Burrough; upcoming episodes will showcase reporting by David Kushner (The White House Boys) and Myron Farber (Presumed Guilty).
Though Vanity Fair has been involved in past TV specials, Confidential marked the publication's first television series. In past interviews, Conde Nast Entertainment president Dawn Ostroff noted that there was intense interest in the idea, with growing cabler ID winning the bidding war.
