Tom Cruise and Sam Smith are NOT working together to launch the singer a movie career, despite an inaccurate report. On Sunday, the Daily Star claimed Smith had “caught the eye” of Cruise, who supposedly “wants to groom him for a big-screen role.” Gossip Cop has exclusively learned, however, that the story is untrue.
The Daily Star quoted a “top executive” who has supposedly worked with Cruise as saying, “Tom’s offered to take Sam under his wing. He was intrigued to learn that Sam started off as an actor and he thinks he could be a natural for everything from action movies to musicals.” The British tabloid went on to cite “friends and industry colleagues” as alleging that Smith is “‘extremely flattered’ by Cruise’s interest and ‘very receptive’ to the idea of working with him on a movie.”
But Gossip Cop can exclusively confirm there is NO joint film project in the works. In fact, when we investigated, some actually laughed out loud at the idea. Once again, the Daily Star proves it’s nothing but a joke.
