Superhumans Run Amok in the First Season of Sony’s ‘Powers’ (Video)

"The world as you know it is going to end soon."

Ahead of Tuesday's premiere of Powers — a 10-episode series based on the independent comic created by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming — Sony Pictures Television has released a glimpse into the world where everyday cops are forced to deal with a world of superpowers, celebrity and science gone oh-so-wrong.

The series stars Sharlto Copley and Susan Heyward as lead cops Christian Walker and Deena Pilgrim, with Michelle Forbes, Eddie Izzard and Olesya Rulin providing back-up as Retro Girl, Wolfe and Calista, respectively. The series' initial episodes were written by showrunner Charlie Huston, with David Slade directing the first two installments. (Remi Aubuchon is co-showrunner alongside Huston.)

Powers marks Sony's first foray into original scripted programming for its PlayStation Network, with episodes available at no cost to PlayStation Plus subscribers. (Non-subscribers will be able to view the first episode for free.) The initial three episodes will be released Mar. 10, followed by the weekly release of subsequent installments.
