"Southern Charm's" Thomas Ravenel stopped by Access Hollywood this week to preview what fans can expect from the show’s second season.
One major focus of the season will be Thomas' ill-fated Senatorial campaign.
"It went by so fast. I was running for U.S. Senate so my mind was elsewhere the entire time. Losing tons of money for no good reason. I think I got 3.9 percent of the vote," he told Access.
Thomas' unique strategy will play out throughout this season.

"[Fellow cast member Whitney Sudler-Smith] cut an ad with me dancing with these 20-something-year-old girls and I refused to run that – but I think we’re going to see the ad on the show, so you get to make up your mind if you think I should have run it," he said. "[Whitney] said, 'You need to embrace your past. You can’t run a traditional campaign. Let’s just go ahead and embrace all your flaws, your frailties, your weaknesses. Let’s go for it.'"
The end of season one also saw Thomas become a dad for the first time with his then 22-year-old girlfriend, Kathryn Calhoun Dennis.
"[Fatherhood] requires a lot of responsibility which I’m not accustomed to," he said. "We’re not married so it involves – how do I rightfully put this? There’s some custody issues, some child support issues, issues that don’t normally accompany a child."
He said he and Kathryn are working on their relationship.
"I don’t know that we’re going to be together," he said. "I do love Kathryn. There is an age difference and it’s totally an improbable romance in the age difference."
Even given some of the challenges, fatherhood suits Thomas.
"I’ve always wanted a child," he said. "Regardless of the circumstances, it’s wonderful to be a dad and it’s a small piece of immortality. To carry on your DNA forever."
