Ryan Phillippe says he and Reese Witherspoon got married too young. In a new interview with Larry King, the actor explains why he thinks the high-profile couple’s marriage ended in divorce. Watch the video below.
King asks Phillippe whether it was a problem that he and Witherspoon worked in the same business. “No, I think more of a problem was age,” says the actor. “We got together so young. I think it can create issues, two people in this industry, because there’s so much noise that goes along with it, but no.”
Are he and Witherspoon friends? “Yes, very much,” says Phillippe, going on to talk about his children with his ex-wife, including their 15-year-old daughter Ava. “Has your daughter started to date yet?” asks King. “No,” says Phillippe, saying he’s not too worried about it. “I don’t think she’ll suffer fools,” he explains. “She’s going to have high standards.”
Phillippe takes issue with his reputation as a “Hollywood bad boy,” saying he doesn’t know where that label comes from. The actor says he’s been dating his girlfriend, lawyer Paulina Slagter, for four years, and is a dedicated father to his kids.
