Reese Witherspoon is NOT opening a hotel in Nashville, despite a new story published this week in one of the tabloids. A source close to Witherspoon tells Gossip Cop exclusively that the report is “not true.”

The rumor began in the pages of Us Weekly. According to the magazine, Witherspoon and her husband Jim Toth “plan to open a boutique hotel in Nashville.” The magazine then quotes a so-called “source” as saying, “They’ve gone down a few times to look at properties.” Unable to refrain from using a horrible pun, the tabloid then writes that the couple, who own a home near Nashville and even named their two-year-old son Tennessee, are “still sorting the inns and outs.”

The magazine’s supposed “source” adds, “They’ve met with an architect and decorator, but they haven’t officially signed everything yet.” Well, Gossip Cop checked into the hotel story, and it didn’t check out. (Yeah, we can do really horrible puns, too.) A source close to Witherspoon tells Gossip Cop exclusively it’s “not true” that she’s looking to buy a boutique hotel in Nashville.

Us Weekly, to its credit, has generally been accurate with its Witherspoon stories, though Gossip Cop did once have to bust the tabloid for a totally inaccurate story about how the actress and Taylor Swift spent a lunch together trashing their mutual ex-boyfriend Jake Gyllenhaal. Similarly, this latest Nashville hotel story is wrong.
