Tony Shalhoub's Dr. Bernard Prince may be the only friend Edie Falco's Jackie Peyton has on the final season of Showtime's Nurse Jackie.

A featurette promoting the seventh season offers the first footage of The Monk star's debut on the Showtime dramedy's seventh season, where he plays a new doctor at All Saints and, much to Akalitus' (Anna Deavere Smith) surprise, a friend to Jackie.

This season, Jackie will lose her nursing license and attempt to rebuild her life following her arrest. It will also feature the "biggest shift" yet between Jackie and Zoey (Merritt Wever), with the latter becoming her former mentor's designated monitor.

Speaking to reporters in January, showrunner Clyde Phillips noted the final season would feature an "authentic" ending.

"We had told the up and backstory of addiction and of trust, consequence and shrapnel that a drug addict has inflicted on her colleagues, friends and family in about as many ways as we possibly could," Phillips told reporters at TCA. "We're ending in a graceful and authentic way this year."
