Eva Mendes does not actually think sweatpants are the number one cause for divorce, despite a joke she made earlier in the week. In fact, the actress proved it by sharing a picture on Friday of her grey sweats, along with a witty caption on Instagram that read: “Dear favorite pair of sweatpants. I was kidding when I said you’re the #1 cause of divorce” (see below).
Earlier this week, the new mom to daughter Esmeralda jokingly said her secret to keeping longtime love Ryan Gosling happy at home is never wearing sweatpants. “You can’t do sweatpants… ladies, number one cause of divorce in America, sweatpants no,” she told “Extra.”
After clarifying that she was kidding when she spoke to “Extra,” Mendes continued to joke on Friday when she added on Instagram, “Everyone knows that orange crocs are the #1 cause of divorce. Either way it was a bad joke and feel terrible if you or anyone thought I was serious. Thanks for understanding sweatpants. Sorry orange crocs.”
Gosling also made clear his stance on sweatpants, an issue that has clearly captured a nation. He tweeted, “Obviously sweatpants was a joke. Wearing them now,” adding, “That’s right, tweeting in sweatpants. Rats! Said too much! You win again Twitter.” What do you think of Mendes and Gosling’s comments?
