Destiny’s Child reunited at the Stellar Gospel Music Awards on Saturday, performing together for the first time in more than two years. Watch below!
Beyonce, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams took the stage together at the Las Vegas ceremony to perform “Say Yes,” which was released last year as a single from Williams’ Journey to Freedom album. Following its release, the song went to number one on the Billboard Hot Gospel Songs chart. Despite the track’s success and the trio filming a music video, the longtime friends never performed “Say Yes” live together until now.
At Saturday’s event, the video for “Say Yes” won Music Video of the Year. Williams posted on Instagram afterward, “Thank you to each and every one of you that voted for #SayYes and a very special THANK YOU to @matthewacherry for directing this incredible video. And of course to my ladies to @beyonce and @kellyrowland for blessing the song. #StellarAwards.”
The surprise performance marked the first time Beyoncé, Rowland, and Williams sang together on stage since Beyoncé’s Super Bowl halftime show in 2013. Rowland was asked about a reunion just last week, telling “Extra,” “The last reunion happened the other day when we all sat down and were just talking and enjoying each other’s company.” The singer went on, “It was awesome. Not every time you see Destiny’s Child together may be in front of the camera. We still have our bond amongst each other. T at’s the most beautiful gift Destiny’s Child has given me.”
The Stellar Gospel Music Awards will air on TV One next Sunday. Check out video of the Destiny’s Child performance below!
