Hannibal Buress adds another Comedy Central series to his resume.
The Broad City actor and Emmy-nominated comic has landed his own eight episode series order for Why? With Hannibal Buress. The half-hour entry, which will be shot in front of a studio audience, is expected to provide Buress' unique perspective on each week's zeitgeist-y topic, answering burning questions on his mind through stand-up, filmed segments, man-on-the-street interviews and special in-studio guests.

"Hannibal keeps asking us 'why,' so we just told him to go find out, and we'll air it," quipped Comedy Central's president of content development and original programming Kent Alterman, to which Buress added: "I'm extremely excited to help Comedy Central sell advertising."
The show, which will tape the same week it airs, is being executive produced by Buress, Jeff Stilson (The Chris Rock Show, Da Ali G Show) and manager Dave Becky of 3 Arts Entertainment. And if all goes as planned, it will serve to deepen the bond Comedy Central viewers already have with Buress, a Broad City series regular who's front-lined multiple Comedy Central stand-up specials. Later this month, the man whom the New York Times once praised for having an "irresistible" comedic presence will join the all-star line-up of featured roasters at the network's upcoming Justin Bieber roast.

Late last year, Buress was thrust into the spotlight when his comedic rant about Bill Cosby, which was filmed on a smartphone during a gig and posted on YouTube, set off the firestorm that is still unraveling. He's also the co-host of Adult Swim’s The Eric Andre Show, which is now in its third season, and appears frequently on the late-night TV circuit. Earlier in his career, Buress wrote for Saturday Night Live and 30 Rock, where he also appeared.
The news of his series comes as Comedy Central is looking to firm up another slot on its schedule: the one currently occupied by departing host Jon Stewart. Buress, who inked a wide-ranging development deal with the network in 2013, is repped by WME.
