Martin Short made quite an entrance on Thursday’s “The Late Show with David Letterman.” The actor, suspended by cables, flew through the Ed Sullivan Theater, cracking jokes as he sang a spoof of “Fly Me To The Moon.” Watch the video below!
“Sir, your fly is open,” sang Short as he soared above the audience. “Ma’am, I’m looking down your dress. Talk about deflated balls, this harness is way too small.” He made fun of Paul Shaffer’s bald head, and joked, “With this audience, I know I can’t lose. Even from way up here, I smell the booze.”
Letterman seemed very appreciative of the special stunt, even though Short joked he’d done it for Jeff Foxworthy. Short has been giving comedic musical performances on the “Late Show” for years, and with Letterman retiring, those moments will be coming to an end.
During their interview, Short amusingly remembered his stint on “Saturday Night Live,” did a killer Larry David impression, joked about his close friendship with the recently deceased King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia, and told a hilarious story about dining with a drunken Nick Nolte.
