Marvel’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Animated Series Adds Drax

Guardians of the Galaxy Animated Drax Still - H 2015

Marvel Studios/Disney XD

Continuing the reveals of voice talent for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, it’s been announced that David Sobolov will be reprising the role of Drax the Destroyer in the forthcoming Disney XD animated series.

Sobolov, whose previous voice work includes roles in Transformers: Prime, Beast Wars and a number of video games including Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and Justice League Heroes, has already played the alien warrior in a number of Marvel animated shows, including Ultimate Spider-Man, Avengers Assemble and Hulk and the Agents of SMASH.

He’ll return to the role as a regular on the upcoming series based on James Gunn’s summer blockbuster, joining the already-announced Kevin Michael Richardson, Trevor Devall and Will Friedle (playing Groot, Rocket Raccoon and Star-Lord, respectively). We now have four of the five members of the team cast, with only Gamora remaining — assuming, of course, the series doesn’t add any additional characters from the Guardians’ comic book mythology.

Guardians of the Galaxy will premiere later this year on Disney XD.
