Magic Mike XXL has its first trailer. The sequel to the hit male stripper movie Magic Mike, the new film is set to be released on July 1. It stars Channing Tatum, Matt Bomer, Joe Manganiello, Amber Heard, Elizabeth Banks and Jada Pinkett Smith. Watch the video below!
The plot this time around centers on the strippers taking a road trip to a stripping convention, where things predictably get crazy. The trailer doesn’t give away too much, as it mostly leers at Tatum’s character as he grinds away, first on metal and then on himself, in a workshop. But then we get a taste of beach scenes, wild partying, and suggestive shooting of water from a bottle.
Then we get the money shot of all the hunky dancers standing all hunk-ily on a stage. “You’re welcome,” announces the trailer. Indeed. There’s even a little funny flirtatious scene at the end, with the movie acknowledging how deliciously ridiculously all of this is. The original 2012 Magic Mike became a pop cultural phenomenon, with audiences loving Tatum and Matthew McConaughey’s performances as exotic dancers. That movie earned well over $100 million at the domestic box office. Will Magic Mike XXL do even bigger business?
