GRRM On ‘Thrones’ Sand Snakes – ARTICLE

For those still hurting over the loss of Oberyn Martell from "Game of Thrones," rest easy, relief is coming. The show is about to introduce his impressive daughters.

"The Sand Snakes will be big this year," "A Song of Ice and Fire" series author George R. R. Martin told Access Hollywood at the Writers Guild Awards over the weekend.

"If you liked Pedro Pascal last year playing The Red Viper of Dorne, well, as it happens, he has eight daughters and you'll meet three of them this season," George continued. "And they're pretty kick-ass too!"

In fact, the young women (who have the surname "Sand" because they are bastard daughters), were featured in the Season 5 trailer of the HBO show. They are being played by Keisha Castle-Hughes (Obara), Jessica Henwick (Nymeria) and Rosabell Laurenti-Sellers (Tyene).

"Game of Thrones" Season 5 premieres April 12 at 9 PM on HBO, but plans are already afoot for Season 6.

"We are already at work on Season 6. I met with David Benioff and Dan Weiss and Bryan Cogman [Friday] night and we had a long talk about some of the stuff that will be included in Season 6, but we haven't started writing that one yet," George said.

"But Season 5 has a lot of interesting stuff in it. There'll be a lot of surprises," he added.
