Cinemax Renews ‘Banshee,’ Picks Up ‘Outcast’ – ARTICLE

It was a big day for drama shows at Cinemax, as the network announced the renewal of "Banshee" and the pickup of a series from Robert Kirkman.

"Banshee," which is charging through its third season, was picked up for a fourth season.

The fourth season, which will shoot in Pittsburgh, will be comprised of eight episodes, and the cast will be announced at a later date. For those who have seen the bloodshed on the show, and the recent deaths of several much-loved characters, that makes perfect sense so as to not spoil any of the drama (or deaths) in the remaining episodes of Season 3.

Alan Ball, Greg Yaitanes, Jonathan Tropper, Peter Macdissi, Adam Targum and Ole Christian Madsen will serve as executive producers of Season 4.

In new drama news, Cinemax announced it picked up "Outcast," from Robert Kirkman (EP of "The Walking Dead" and the man behind the comics) and Chris Black.

The series stars "Almost Famous" alum Patrick Fugit as Barnes, described by Cinemax as "a man searching for answers, and for redemption, who sequesters himself from those he loves for fear of causing greater hurt."

British actor Philip Glenister, who starred in the original UK version of "Life on Mars," plays Reverend Anderson in "Outcast." Rev. Anderson is a West Virginia "evangelist who believes he is a soldier in God's holy war against the forces of evil on Earth. An inveterate drinker and gambler, he doesn't believe God intends people to sweat the small stuff," per the network's character description.

Young actor Gabriel Bateman plays 8-year-old Joshua Austin, who "appears to be in the clutches of demonic possession," but like any show with a twist, "there's something very different about this possession and its connection to Kyle Barnes," according to Cinemax.
