Bruce Jenner likely won’t be charged in this month’s fatal crash when the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office reviews the investigative report.
As Gossip Cop has reported, on February 7, Jenner was behind the wheel of his Cadillac Escalade on Pacific Coast Highway when he struck a Lexus in front of him, sending the car into oncoming traffic, where it was hit by a Hummer. The driver of the Lexus, Kim Howe, was killed. After the force of the impact pushed the Lexus, Jenner also crashed into a Prius that was ahead of it.
With more evidence coming to light, it’s becoming increasingly probable that the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department won’t recommend prosecution for several reasons. As previously reported, Jenner was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the accident, and he was not texting or talking on his phone, either. His speed was revealed on Tuesday to be 38 MPH at impact, indicating that he was not speeding. It is believed Jenner may have been following the Lexus too closely, and when he did not see traffic ahead had slowed, the former athlete slammed on his brakes.
His inattentiveness could lead to a citation, but is not expected to warrant a manslaughter charge. That said, no official decision has been made at this time. But, according to TMZ, the investigation is nearing its completion, and the case will be forwarded to the D.A’s office soon. The site puts the odds that Jenner won’t be prosecuted at 60-40, while another source says 70-30. Gossip Cop will have updates when anything is confirmed.
