Bruce Jenner reportedly told his family that he’s known he was female since he was a child. According to TMZ, the Olympic great and reality TV star recently revealed to the Jenners and Kardashians that he became aware of his “true self” when he was five years old, keeping his identity secret for decades.
The outlet reports that Jenner has “never been female” or dressed like a woman in front of his children, despite living for decades as what he felt was the wrong gender. It had been previously reported that his ex-wife, Kris Jenner, knew for a long time about his hidden feelings, although Jenner’s mother has said it was a “shock” when she learned about his transition.
TMZ says Jenner has not revealed his new female name to his family, nor does he tell Diane Sawyer in his first interview about his life change. In the weeks since Jenner’s transition was revealed, there’s been rampant speculation about the exact nature of his evolution, its timing, and various family members’ reactions. In the midst of everything, Jenner was involved in a fatal car accident last week.
